'Reach for the Stars!' and other useful things SClub7 have said.

I am still getting lovely comments about my latest comedy video 'Casting Breakdown' - thank you very much. If you have an idea for a video, play, novel, movie, song - whatever it may be - just do it. I sat on my song for ages before just asking lovely friends of mine for help: Christian is married to my drama school friend Holly and is an excellent music producer, and I met David my director/editor/producer whilst performing in a sketch show in 2012. Why I didn't think to ask them sooner I have no idea, it took reading Amanda Palmer's book to think of it.

I'm urging you to follow your dreams, passions, ideas (whatever you want to call them) particularly tonight as I found something that made me sad during yesterday's chuck out.

In a box of old cards, I found one from a friend from Bretton Hall. In it he was apologising for our falling out and wanting to rebuild a friendship - we had been great friends during the first few weeks of uni and almost gotten together but it all went to pieces. Things were never right again and we would wind each other up terribly. I am not sure how gracious or not I was in receiving this act of reconciliation if I'm honest. I defiantly wasn't mean, but I had moved onto a new boyfriend and didn't put in the time to rebuild this friendship. I regret this as a few months after we had finished at Bretton Hall this great, brilliant, talented boy was killed in a road accident.

When I knew him, he had wanted to be a stunt man and was always either off rock climbing or trampolining or in his room training with his weights - it is so upsetting that he never achieved this aim. But this has taught me, and I hope will make you think: life is short - go for what you really want.

If you are in need of inspiration this video of Jim Carrey speaking at a University graduation is fantastic - skip the first ten minutes or so:  I love how he says :"You can fail at what you aren't good at, so why not do what you love?"

Being a performer is hard. My 'Casting Breakdown' song is obviously very tongue in cheek but there are of course times of 'WHAT AM I DOING?! Everyone else from school now has a house and a husband and are working up the career ladder' in the same way that Amanda Palmer talks about 'the fraud police'.

There are lots of times when the sheer frustration of feeling like we are not in control of our careers is tedious. We feel like the 'gatekeepers' such as agents, casting directors, producers hold all the answers but the business is changing - or even if it isn't MAKE it change. I love this from Patton Oswalt, all creatives should watch it:
