Comedy, Anti-Bullying Week and Team Building

The title above has basically been my month.

I have been gigging all over, giving 5 minutes of comedy to anyone that will listen in preparation for two comedy comps in January. Open Mic nights are fabulous in one respect as you see people starting out, you see people progress; but they can also drain the life out of you. Some nights are poorly attended and you can end up performing only to a room of, very lovely, yet downhearted comedians. Onwards and Upwards!

This week has been 'Anti-Bullying Week' and I worked with a company delivering workshops to the primary schools of Watford; this means endless white-girl middle class rapping. Naturally. Most kids were lovely but some of them reminded me of an event I worked on the previous week where 300 bankers played a competitive team-building game and went tribal.

I love being an actor.

Trying to be somebody else/Open Mic Circuit

This week I launched a character on You Tube. This experience has been fun and scary in equal measure. A lot of people are seeming to think it is real which is hilarious in itself but I have got to learn to take the 'dislike' ticks on the chin - hopefully that means she is actually successful as a character?! I am working on doing weekly videos and I have written a load of material but I am desperately trying to not use it all up on twitter!

In other news I have been blitzing the Open Mic circuit, trying to 'put the hours in'. There is such a range of nights out there: from cosy night's of 10-14 acts with one break, to comedy endurance nights of over 20 acts and two breaks!! Meeting some lovely people on the circuit though which makes it all the more fun.

I am still used to the fact that one night your material may storm it and the next it can die on its backside - my own perfectionism is my biggest enemy at present.

Check out my 'News and Gigs' page for more info! I promise I will attempt to keep it updated!
