FAQs

What actually is coaching? What happens during a session?

It starts with the 30 minute discovery call where we discuss what has brought you to coaching - is it time to change careers? Are you trying to sell your house and overwhelmed with where to start? Maybe you want to write a book but you are already juggling your job and being a parent?

We then book in a series of coaching sessions and I send you some pre-work to zero-in on what you want to get out of our time together. We remove the ‘shoulds’ and work on what you truly WANT.

Sessions are goal centred. I have worked with all kinds of clients’s dreams, from ones with imposed deadlines to passion projects in need of a deadline - in every case I work with the client to chunk down the steps to help them get to where they want to go and bat away each mental block if/as we meet them. If something isn’t working, I will help you to learn to play with your techniques, systems and scheduling to be more effective each day BUT with fun as ‘Do the Hussle’ is a Disco song, not a way to live.

The biggest thing you will receive from our sessions is accountability - this element alone will propel you forward to start that side-business/write that pilot/clear out the cupboard you have put off for 5 years!

What’s the difference between Life Coaching and Counselling?

Life Coaching is not a form of therapy and should not replace counselling, psychotherapy, psychiatry or any other intervention where needed/recommended. Therapy is largely about the past and Life Coaching is purely about building towards the future you want to create.

If you feel in your gut that you actually need a talking therapy then a good counsellor or therapist is worth their weight in gold; they all have different approaches so it pays to make sure you find the right one for you - you need to click.

This doesn’t mean that I couldn’t coach you on your goals along-side your seeing a therapist, but on the rare occasion you feel you actually need to need to see a counsellor to move past a block that occurs during the course of our sessions then we will just pause the process and restart when you are ready.

Who do you normally work with?

Coaching is suitable for all types of people and so far I have mainly worked with self-employed people including actors, coaches, writers and comedians. We have looked at both completing specific projects and also a holistic approach to work/life balance. I am happy to work with anyone who has a goal and motivation but needs accountability.

How long will I work with you for?

The standard coaching 6 week blocks can be used up over a maximum of 6 months. An average amount of time is fortnightly sessions so you have time to complete the actions you set out for yourself at the end of each session, yet frequent enough to keep momentum. The other packages are a more concentrated amount of time to focus on a more specific project.

During our 30 minute discovery call we will suggest what frequency will be right or you and your goals.

Why is there such a range of prices out there amongst coaches?

There are a vast array of prices out there in the world of coaching from £20-£2000 an hour and most of the time it comes down to the type of clients they work with; the coach’s experience; supply and demand. A coach working with someone in ‘big business’ could help them gain a great financial outcome and therefore their fee is relative - it’s about value and investment and your life is worth investing in!

Whether you pay £30 for your hour or £300, the work really has to come from within you - no coach can truly create motivation out of nothing and spending £2000 will not wave a magic wand for you despite those coaches being truly fabulous. If you value the process of working with a coach you will see a quick return on your investment.

My fees are currently at an introductory rate but will go up over time so I encourage you to book in now.

I don’t like the word goal, can we call it something else?

Dream, aspiration, aim, wish…you name it as it is your future achievement.
